Who Is This For?

This experience is for people who find themselves designing or facilitating learning experiences, meetings, or workshops and would appreciate some guidance along the way.

You might be:

  • A nonprofit, community organization, or public sector professional who leads meetings, workshops, or learning activities as part of your role.
  • A subject matter expert who’s been asked to teach or train others but hasn’t had formal training in learning design or facilitation.
  • A new or developing facilitator looking for practical advice on an upcoming session.
  • Someone creating a course, workshop, or other learning experience who wants to strengthen their approach.
  • Someone with a specific learning design or facilitation question who would benefit from talking it through with an experienced professional.

All you need to participate is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a real question or challenge you want to discuss.

How It Works

You’ll have 30 minutes of dedicated consultation time within the session to explain your situation, ask questions, and receive personalized guidance from Beth.

Come with what you have—a half-formed idea, a specific question, or a challenge you’re trying to work through. You don’t need to prepare a formal presentation or submit materials for review beforehand. You’ll receive a few guiding questions before the session to help you think about what you’d most like to explore.

This experience is best suited to questions and challenges you can explain in a few minutes, allowing us to spend most of your time exploring ideas and possible solutions. If your project requires extensive background information, detailed document review, or more in-depth support, Beth’s 1:1 Consultation Session may be a better fit.

One of the biggest benefits of this experience is learning from other people’s questions. You’ll likely gain as much from listening to Beth’s advice to the other participants as you will from your own consultation time. You’ll hear different perspectives, discover ideas you might not have considered, and see how facilitation and learning design principles apply across different situations.

We’ll begin with brief introductions, followed by each participant’s dedicated 30-minute consultation time. We’ll also have some flexible “wild card” time for additional questions, group discussion, and sharing ideas or suggestions with one another towards the end of our time together. This time will be shaped by the interests and needs of the group.

What to Expect

  • A small, welcoming group. With a maximum of three participants, everyone will have dedicated time for their own questions and opportunities to learn from others. You’ll be introduced to the other registrants by email beforehand, so you’ll have a chance to make some new connections.
  • A session that goes ahead regardless of registration numbers. The duration will depend on how many people register:
    • 1 participant: 45 minutes
    • 2 participants: 90 minutes
    • 3 participants: 120 minutes (2 hours)
  • A respectful and confidential space. Everyone will be asked to keep other participants’ situations, questions, and identifying details confidential. You’re welcome to take away and apply the general ideas and strategies discussed, while respecting the privacy of the people who shared them.
  • A useful summary to take away. You’ll receive an AI-generated summary of key ideas, recommendations, and next steps, with confidential information removed. The session itself won’t be recorded.

Come ready to ask questions, listen with curiosity, and leave with fresh ideas to strengthen your approach in designing learning or facilitating workshops or meetings.
