Starting a new learning design project is exciting, especially when it aligns with your mission and goals. Since we’ve worked on countless projects, we know that the foundation for success is laid right at the start—beginning with our exploration meeting. If you’re considering meeting with us to discuss a potential learning design project, here’s what to expect and how you can make the most of it.
Why the exploration meeting matters
This meeting isn’t just a quick intro. It’s where we start shaping the vision for your project together. We’ll dive into your goals, clarify the scope, and discuss expectations, so we’re all on the same page.
Often, clients come with a general idea but need help defining specifics. That’s where we come in. We’ll help clarify your needs, explore learning modes (virtual, in-person, e-learning, blended), and talk timelines and available resources. We know that learning design terminology can be complex, so part of our role is to simplify and guide our communication.
What we’ll discuss
Here are a few points to think about before the meeting. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the details figured out yet; we’ll expand on these during our conversation.
- Project Goals: What is the nature and aim of the project? How does it align with your mission?
- Learner Groups: Who’s your target audience? What experience do you want to create for them?
- Mode: Do you have a preference for the learning mode—whether in-person, virtual, e-learning, or a blend?
- Resources: What financial, time, and people resources are you ready to invest to create a transformational learning experience together?
- SME Involvement: Who might partner with us as the subject matter expert(s)? Are they available for the project?
Aligning values and vision
We believe that a great partnership starts with shared values. Our dedication to inclusion, curiosity, and excellence ensures that our solutions are accessible, innovative, and high-quality. We’re committed to designing learning experiences that go beyond the basics—ones that truly engage learners, spark curiosity, and inspire action.
If your vision aligns with this approach—whether through innovative formats, interactive elements, or immersive activities—we’d be excited to explore it with you. We’d also love to hear how our values resonate with yours and learn about any other values that are essential to you and your organization.
After the meeting
By the end, we should have a clearer picture of your project and whether we’re a fit for each other. This meeting usually provides enough insight for us to prepare a proposal and project quote. If you’re still refining some details, that’s okay! The meeting will help clarify your next steps, even if you need more time to finalize your ask.
When you’re ready to explore a potential partnership with us, we encourage you to reach out well in advance—ideally 8 to 12 weeks before your project’s intended start date. This lead time allows us to integrate your project effectively into our schedule. We look forward to connecting with you!
