At BCB Learning Inc., we’re incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into our daily processes to enhance our work in support of our clients’ projects. If working with an AI “partner” is something you’ve yet to explore, or if you’re looking to enhance what you’re already doing, keep reading!

AI has quickly become a valuable tool for us across a range of tasks, from supporting research and content development to streamlining writing and editing. Below are just a few examples of how AI is helping us optimize our work.

Complex Topics: When we’re working on unfamiliar topics, AI provides clarity and breaks down complex concepts, helping us understand our clients’ subjects more deeply to be able to talk about them more effectively with them.

Subject-Specific Examples: When developing content for courses, AI generates useful examples for various subjects. For instance, we’ve recently used it to come up with specific scenarios for how individuals may accidentally transgress confidentiality guidelines at a non-profit organization.

Term Definitions: Specialized terminology often needs clear definitions. AI helps us provide concise explanations in learning materials, ensuring our learners grasp key concepts.

Inclusive and Plain Language: AI supports us in transforming complex or unclear text into clear, straightforward language that all learners can easily understand. It also assists in generating accessible and inclusive language, ensuring our materials are free from ableist terms and are tailored to diverse audiences.

While AI is a powerful and versatile tool, it’s important to note that organizations should not rely solely on AI to create content for their courses and assume it will result in a well-designed learning experience. AI can certainly help streamline content creation, but professional learning designers, like our team at BCB Learning, are essential to ensure that courses are pedagogically sound, aligned with learning outcomes, and designed for optimal engagement and retention.

AI should be seen as a complement to the learning design process, not a replacement. Our expertise in learning design, accessibility and inclusion, and instructional strategies ensures that the final product is more than just content—it’s a transformative learning experience.
