Whether you’re facilitating meetings or workshops, Beth Cougler Blom will meet you in this 1:1 coaching session in Zoom to help strengthen your skills, deepen your practice, and build your confidence in how you work with groups.

Some of the topics we can explore together include:

Clarifying Purpose and Approach

• Exploring the purpose, goals, and outcomes of the session
• Reflecting on whether creating a learning experience or holding a meeting is the right fit to address the current situation
• Considering which mode (e.g., in person, virtual, facilitated asynchronous online, e-learning, blended) aligns with your intentions and participants’ needs
• Exploring participant characteristics, needs, and context to inform your approach

Designing for Engagement and Impact

• Strengthening your ability to design for engagement in any mode
• Discussing participatory activities
• Discussing decisions about materials (e.g., slide decks, handouts) and tools/platforms to support your approach
• Considering aspects of accessibility and inclusion as they relate to facilitation

Preparing to Facilitate with Confidence

• Discussing facilitation philosophies, mindsets, skills, and strategies
• Facilitating participatory activities throughout your session effectively
• Preparing for common facilitation challenges (e.g. participant disengagement, over-talking, conflict, unexpected resistance)
• Deepening your confidence in your facilitation style and approach

Reflecting and Growing Your Practice

• Gathering and responding to participant feedback about your facilitation
• Reflecting on your sessions to identify strengths and growth opportunities
• Connecting with additional resources and communities to enhance facilitation skills
