It’s now been over a month since I was able to put Design to Engage: How to Create and Facilitate a Great Learning Experience for Any Group into the hands of readers. When I last blogged about the book in September I had been told that it would take a few months for the printers to catch up on their pandemic-caused backlog and print the books. Happily, that turned out not to be the case and I got the book order much earlier than expected. More than 150 copies have now gone out the door to clients, colleagues, friends and random facilitators and professionals all over Canada. You won’t be surprised to hear that sales efforts have been a little tricky given that we’re still experiencing a global pandemic with restrictions on gatherings! (Who knew I’d be navigating that when I was ready to launch?!) However, it feels like a great start.

But I won’t be the only one selling the book for too much longer. Design to Engage will release into full distribution in January, which means that people will then be able to get it on Amazon, through FriesenPress, and other online sites. If you think Design to Engage should be in a bookstore near you, please let me know. The book page now features sample pages, a bookstore sell sheet, and a media kit to help people learn about the book. (Don’t have your copy yet? That link will also take you to my shop where you can purchase.)

I’ll keep you updated on future developments as I share Design to Engage with the world. And if you already have your copy, thank you for supporting me in my efforts. I’m feeling proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish so far.

Lastly, an unrelated note: I’m showing up on this blog less and less. In fact, I’ve recently just about buried it on my website after I integrated the book and shop pages in the menu. I’ve been blogging since 2005 and, to be honest, it’s somewhat losing its appeal. For more regular (shorter, snappier) updates, including learning design tips, notices of upcoming webinars and more, follow me @bethcouglerblom on Instagram or @bcouglerblom on Facebook (which I also don’t love, but Instagram posts to it automatically for me, so there you go.) Or you can sign up for my newsletter (you’ll get a pop up on this site), which I send about six times a year. Or why don’t you come to one of my webinars and get to know me in person? Check out the shop for all upcoming events through which we explore design and facilitation of learning together.
